As we finished our sermon series in Ezra and Nehemiah, you may have gotten a sense that the story was still… incomplete. The Lord restored His remnant people and rebuilt His kingdom, but the old patterns of sin and rebellion returned all over again. And for 400 years, God’s people cried out, waiting for the King of the Kingdom to come. Well, in the Gospel of Matthew, the answer finally comes. We encounter at last the good news of the arrival of the long-anticipated king. And his name is Jesus. The books of Ezra and Nehemiah long for the Savior King; the Psalms resonate with the Savior King; and, as we saw at Advent, the whole bible ultimately points to this Savior King: Jesus Christ. But who is King Jesus? What did He say? And how can we know Him even now? Join us this Spring, Summer, and Fall as we meet King Jesus face-to-face in the Gospel of Matthew, seeking to truly experience personally the Good News of King Jesus together.

Revealing the Person of King Jesus
Jesus is real. He walked this earth over 2,000 years ago, came alive after death, then rose up to heaven...alive. Do you believe this? If you do, then He is still a real person and someone you can have a real relationship with. In today's sermon you'll hear the characteristics of who this real person is. And you will then need to decide if you want to have a personal relationship with Him. Because it is only through that personal relationship in Him that you can be saved.

Religion or Relationship: Nehemiah's Example
What was it that made Nehemiah a man that God would choose to lead a struggling nation? He wasn't a leader or prophet in Israel. But it is evident through his prayers that he was devoted to God. Nehemiah knew the Scriptures well, therefore he knew God well, and he loved him. Today, Quintin Legler, one of our elders, shows us how God wants more than mere religion from us, He wants a relationship. Relationships require time and effort. So we must ask ourselves, are we spending the time needed to know and love God so that He will use us in remarkable ways?
