A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” How do you make a new home feel like home? In today’s message, the people of God are encouraged to move to Jerusalem to make their dwelling there in the Holy City. Through gathering together, purifying, worshipping and rejoicing, they remembered that it is God who had done all this for them and that someday out true home will be with Him.
Lord, Forgive Us Our Sins
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” Agony before ecstasy is the general rule in true Holy Spirit revival. Until we agonize over the depth of our sin and depravity, we won’t arrive at the ecstasy of knowing we are freed from the guilt and consequences of that sin leading us to worship and praise our God. In today’s message, the people of God are led as a community into confession, repentance and a renewed commitment to the Lord.
Lord, Holy Be Your Name
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” As Christians we ought to set aside time each day to confess, be taught and to better know God through His Word and through prayer. We are also called to gather with others to seek, hear and worship God. Today in Nehemiah we see Biblical evidence for and the importance of private and corporate worship, Bible study, confession and prayer for those who follow God.
Lord, Yours is the Kingdom
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” Why is it so important to know who you are? Identity matters to everyone. We, as humans, crave rootedness. Nehemiah shows us that when our identity is rooted in God, we can trust that He will move in and through us to accomplish His purposes.
Religion or Relationship: Nehemiah’s Example
by
A messages from the series “Stand Alone Messages.” What was it that made Nehemiah a man that God would choose to lead a struggling nation? He wasn’t a leader or prophet in Israel. But it is evident through his prayers that he was devoted to God. Nehemiah knew the Scriptures well, therefore he knew God well, and he loved him. Today, Quintin Legler, one of our elders, shows us how God wants more than mere religion from us, He wants a relationship. Relationships require time and effort. So we must ask ourselves, are we spending the time needed to know and love God so that He will use us in remarkable ways?
Lord, Lead Us Not Into Temptation
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” Nehemiah was beset with trouble from enemies outside of Jerusalem and problems within the community of God’s people. In today’s sermon, the enemy is the temptation to quit that rises up inside of us when we are opposed. But God has a purpose for Nehemiah, and for each of us, and want’s us to stand in His strength in the face of our temptations and complete what He has set before us.
Lord, Let Your Will Be Done
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” It’s sad but true. Sometimes God’s people poorly reflect the will and heart of God with one another. Last week Nehemiah had to contend with hostilities from people outside of Israel. In this week’s message, the strife is coming from within the community of God’s people. Nehemiah sets the example of how a leader, and each of us, should respond to injustice, speak hard truths in love with other believers, and exemplify faith in God, knowing we will all have to give an account before His throne.
Lord, Deliver Us From Evil
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” If you are doing the work of God, expect opposition. When opposed, how will you defend yourself? The text in today’s sermon gives examples of how to behave while under attack and stand firm in what God has called you to do, just as Nehemiah did when rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
Lord Let Your Kingdom Come
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” God has something for each of us to do…a purpose for which he specifically designed us to do. In this sermon, we see how Nehemiah uses what God has given him to appraise the situation and devise a solution, then encourage others to work with him toward that solution. There is much to learn from Nehemiah about seeking to do things God’s way with how He uniquely made each of us.
Oh Lord, Hear Our Prayer
by
A messages from the series “Nehemiah: The Lord Builds His Kingdom.” The book of Nehemiah takes place approximately 13 years after Ezra arrived in Jerusalem. The book opens with Nehemiah receiving an update from Jerusalem which brings him great distress. Nehemiah then prays to God to use him to restore the walls and gates of Jerusalem. His heartfelt prayer serves as a Biblical example of how we should approach God through prayer.
